| After years of issues with weight and self-esteem, Barbie K Reed was ready for a revolution. Curves helped to provide the revelation. After her mother gave her up to be raised by various relatives who also made her feel unwanted, Barbie K. Reed felt an emptiness filled only by food. Despite a family history of hypertension, diabetes, and much more, she was emotionally unable to deal with her ballooning weight and the health problems it portended. Her wake-up call literally came in the middle of the night, when she learned that her obese mother was found lying on the floor of her nursing home, dead at age 68. Approaching 50, Barbie could see her not-too-distant future. Curves helped give her a new focus and change that picture. |

| Like everyone in her family, paralegal Andrea Evans has long battled weight. But as an avid soccer player and skier, she fought back gamely until recently, when sports injuries took a devastating toll on her knees, leading to severe arthritis. Sidelined, Andrea became increasingly overweight and depressed. Her boss kindly insisted that Andrea check out Curves, where she was a member. How do you say no to your boss?
